Provide Your Input to Inform the NH Food Strategy
How do we create a food system* that works for all in the Granite State? To better understand New Hampshire’s food system, and how it could be improved,
we want to hear from you
!
What are the opportunities and success stories that exist within our food system? What are the barriers and challenges you face, and what are potential priority actions or solutions we might take to address those issues? How do you think a statewide Food System Network could help you to collaboratively achieve your goals?
The
Backbone Organization
for this effort at the UNH Sustainability Institute will be taking all feedback collected through this survey and combining it with feedback received at our 10 Regional Gatherings held between August and October of 2014. We are also collecting feedback from a variety of participants at events where we have tabled or will table, individual interviews, and distributed surveys. Additionally, data from NH reports, strategic plans, white papers, and other sources are being analyzed for relevant content to inform this process. A draft NH Food Strategy will be released to the public by the end of 2015 or early 2016.
Thank you for your valuable input. We look forward to staying in touch

Food System:
A
food system
includes all processes and infrastructure involved in feeding a population: growing, harvesting, processing, packaging, transporting, marketing, consumption, and disposal of food and food-related items. It also includes the inputs needed and outputs generated at each of these steps. A food system operates within and is influenced by social, political, economic and environmental contexts. It also requires human resources that provide labor, research and education. (wikipedia 2014)
