History of the NH Food Alliance
The NH Food Alliance (formerly known as the NH Food System Network and Strategy) formed in 2012. Our statewide process of network building and food strategy development was designed to occur in three main phases (see below for process map).
Phase I: Design - September 2012-2013 A diverse team of food system leaders and stakeholders known as the NH Network Design Team (NHNDT) worked to design the food system network structure and strategic development process and produced a summary documenting the principles and overall structure.
Phase II: Strategy Development – October 2013-December 2015 By December 2014, we had completed data collection and analysis, identified twelve main priorities and five leverage areas. In early 2015, we began to organize working groups. We will begin writing the first NHFA strategy document in Spring 2015 and working groups and will be finalized and begin meeting in June 2015.
Phase III: Implementation and Adaptation - January 2016 and beyond The first initiative of the NHFA network, identified in Phase II, is farm, fish and food enterprise viability. The working groups will collaborate to identify and implement approaches that will best serve the viability strategy. The working groups will meet regularly to implement, monitor, evaluate, and refine the goals and approaches outlined in the strategy with regard to the first initiative.
After the completion of the written viability strategy document and establishment of the working groups, the NHFA will identify the focus of Initiative II.
